The Neighbourhood is an American alternative rock band formed in August 2011 in Newbury Park, California, establishing themselves as one of the most influential bands in contemporary alternative rock and as one of the most successful bands of their generation. The original lineup included vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margott and drummer Bryan Sammis, establishing the foundation for their future success and demonstrating their ability to create innovative music while maintaining their authenticity. The band gained international recognition with their single "Sweater Weather", which reached number 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart in 2013, consolidating their recognition in the music industry and their impact on contemporary music.
